New MDC hunting booklets available for deer, turkey, dove and waterfowl

Posted

The Missouri Department of Conservation reminds deer, turkey, waterfowl and dove hunters that new booklets for upcoming hunting seasons are available where permits are sold and online at mdc.mo.gov.

Hunters can find current fall hunting information in the MDC 2026 Fall Deer & Turkey Hunting Regulations and Information booklet and the MDC Migratory Bird and Waterfowl Hunting Digest 2026-27.

The fall deer and turkey booklet includes information on hunting seasons, limits, permits, managed hunts, regulations, conservation areas, post-harvest instructions, chronic wasting disease updates and more.

Changes for 2026 include the removal of the CWD Management Zone, though regulations still apply in some counties. During the November portion of firearms deer season, hunters who harvest deer in designated counties must take the deer or head on the day of harvest to a mandatory CWD sampling station.

Grain, salt products, minerals and other consumable products used to attract deer remain prohibited year-round in counties within 10 miles of where CWD has been detected. The CWD portion of firearms deer season has been removed, and the antler-point restriction has been removed for all counties.

Hunters using a Nonresident Archer’s Hunting Permit or Nonresident Firearms Any-Deer Hunting Permit may now take only one antlered deer during the archery and firearms deer seasons combined. Permit prices have also increased to keep pace with rising costs. Some managed deer hunts have been added, removed or modified, and deer hunting regulations have changed for some conservation areas.

The Migratory Bird and Waterfowl Hunting Digest 2026-27 includes information on waterfowl hunting, as well as hunting doves and other migratory game birds, including rail, snipe and woodcock. It also includes information on permits, duck stamp requirements, seasons, limits, hunting areas, regulations and more.

Changes for 2026 include permit price increases and the replacement of the Migratory Bird Hunting Permit with separate resident and nonresident migratory bird hunting permits. Duck hunting zone boundaries and duck season date formulas have also changed for the 2026-30 seasons.

Missouri hunting and fishing permits are available from vendors around the state and online at mdc.mo.gov/buypermits.
