Ozark Action board meets Tuesday

The Ozark Action Board of Directors will meet for dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Ozark Action Building 2, 720 E. Main St. in West Plains. Dinner will be followed by a business meeting beginning at 6 p.m., expected to last about two hours.

On the agenda for the regular board meeting, a board orientation and training video will be presented by Executive Director Terry Sanders, Program Development Manager Kay Mead and Education Director Holly Tucker.

Under action items, minutes from the May 28 meeting will be considered for approval. Financial reports will be given with regard to Ozark Action overall and Head Start expenditures. A report will also be given by Sanders.

Board councils giving informational reports include the Head Start Policy Council, Community Development Board, Howell County Public Housing, Workforce Investment Program, Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)/Low Income Heating Assistance Program, Ozark Action Properties, and the Nominating Committee and Finance Committee. Clarifications and guidance for Ozark Action boards and departments will also be discussed.

Under new business, Mead will present OAI’s Strategic Plan 2025-2027 pertaining to the CSBG for review and approval. Sanders will present a review and update of agency vision and values, and request approval from the board to accept a $40,000 grant from Rural Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). The funds would cover a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 4 Capacity Building Grant from Aug. 31 through July 31, 2026.

The Nominating Committee will present nominations for expiring seats in Oregon County, Ozark County, Wright County low-income sectors and Texas County private sector, plus a vacant seat in Texas County low-income sector. The annual election of officers will be held to affirm Randall Combs as President, Raymond Gross as Vice President, Sarah Akers as secretary and Debra Berry as treasurer.

A fiscal agent for OAI, Ozark Community Development Corporation and Ozark Action Properties will be discussed and voted on, as will a board resolution regarding the custodian of records.

Disposition of equipment and property disposal will also be considered.

There are no items listed under old business, and with no closed session on the agenda, the board will adjourn.
