With summer activities in full swing and fall sports seasons approaching, Ozarks Healthcare is reminding families of two remaining opportunities for area students to receive free athletic physicals.
The physicals help students meet participation requirements for school activities while ensuring they are healthy for the upcoming academic year.
The remaining free physical clinics will be held July 7 at the Willow Springs School District, and July 31 at the Oregon County Health Department in Alton for athletes in Alton schools.
"Providing free sports physicals is one of the many ways we support the health and well-being of students and families throughout our service area,” said Aimee Jarrett, Ozarks Healthcare vice president of ambulatory services. "These events help remove barriers for families while ensuring students are prepared to safely participate in athletics and other school activities."
Families should contact their respective school office or nurse for specific details and required forms.
Makeup appointments
Students who are unable to attend their school's scheduled physical day can schedule a makeup appointment through the Ozarks Healthcare Zizzer Clinic in West Plains. The clinic is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, though it is closed daily from 11 a.m. to noon.
Families should note that the Zizzer Clinic will be closed for the entire month of July. To schedule a makeup appointment, call 417-505-7123.
Through the spring and summer, Ozarks Healthcare has partnered with several regional school districts to offer convenient, onsite physicals. To date, free physicals have been provided for students in the Koshkonong, Fairview, Junction Hill, Glenwood, Richards, Howell Valley, Dora, Thayer, Gainesville and Winona school districts.
