Ozarks Healthcare recently received three American Heart Association "Get With The Guidelines" achievement awards for its treatment of heart disease and stroke.
The hospital was recognized with the Resuscitation Target Survival award for pediatric care, the Rural Stroke Gold award, and the Stroke Gold Plus award, which includes the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll designations.
The awards recognize facilities that demonstrate a sustained commitment to following current, research-based guidelines for cardiovascular care. According to the American Heart Association's 2026 statistics report, heart disease and stroke are the first and fourth leading causes of death in the U.S., respectively.
The recent honors complement the hospital's cardiovascular program expansions, which include new cardiac catheterization laboratory technology and a recent designation as a Primary Heart Attack Center by The Joint Commission.
“Ozarks Healthcare is committed to delivering high-quality care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines and streamlining processes to ensure timely, appropriate care for heart attacks and strokes,” said Terence Farrell, Ozarks Healthcare president and CEO.
Dr. Karen E. Joynt Maddox, chair of the American Heart Association Quality Oversight Committee, noted that adhering to the association's quality improvement protocols helps advance a shared vision of better patient outcomes, fewer hospital readmissions and lower mortality rates.
The facility's Heart and Lung Center includes interventional cardiologists Dr. Hussain Ibrahim and Dr. Muhammad Khan, cardiologists Dr. A.K. George and Dr. Andrea Moyer, and nurse practitioners Emily Brown and Julie Gunter.
