Ozarks Heritage Fest set for October, Smith donates

West Plains Council on the Arts board member Kathleen Morrissey, left, accepts a $350 donation from Travis Smith, a Republican primary candidate for the Missouri House of Representatives in the 154th District and former 155th District representative. The check was written to the WPCA in support of this fall’s Ozarks Heritage Festival, which focuses on the preservation of the region’s folk music and traditions. The funds are earmarked to sponsor a presentation of animals from the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, a new activity that will join the return of old favorites like the mule jump and pie competition. For more information on the Oct. 16-17 festival, including vendor booth space, visit the new website, ozarksheritagefestival.org or email info@westplainsarts.org.
