Ozarks Healthcare has launched a virtual walk-in care service, offering patients a way to connect with medical providers remotely for non-emergency health care needs.
The service, which began June 9, allows patients to receive care through a smartphone, tablet or computer using the Ozarks Healthcare Patient Portal. Hospital officials noted the program is designed to improve accessibility across the region by reducing travel time and providing faster access to care.
"Virtual walk-in care is another way Ozarks Healthcare is helping meet patients where they are," said Terence Farrell, Ozarks Healthcare president and CEO. "We know many individuals and families face busy schedules, transportation challenges or long travel distances for care. This service provides a convenient option for patients to connect with a trusted provider quickly and safely."
During a virtual visit, providers can discuss symptoms, answer questions, provide prescriptions or referrals, and determine whether an in-person appointment is necessary.
Patients can use the virtual walk-in service for a variety of conditions and needs, including cold, flu, COVID-19, cough and sinus symptoms; allergies and asthma care; urinary tract and yeast infections; rashes and skin concerns; minor burns, cuts, sprains and strains; minor low back pain; behavioral health support; and follow-up appointments and one-time medication refills.
To participate, patients need a device with a working camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection and an Ozarks Healthcare Patient Portal account. Hospital staff recommend patients prepare for visits by writing down symptoms and questions ahead of time and selecting a quiet, private location.
Most insurance plans are accepted for the service, and self-pay visits are available for a flat rate of $80 per session.
