OZH Therapies to host free adaptive baseball program

Posted

Ozarks Healthcare Therapies is hosting Abili-T-Ball, a free adaptive baseball program for children with disabilities that may make participating in traditional leagues challenging.

The program will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturdays from Sept. 26 through Oct. 17 at Kimes and Watkins fields in West Plains. Two preseason practices are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 and Sept. 24.

Participation is free for the first 50 eligible children who sign up by Sept. 9.

The program is designed to accommodate the individual abilities of each participant in an inclusive and supportive environment.

“Activities like Abili-T-Ball are about so much more than playing a sport,” said Sarah James, OZH Therapies director. “For children who receive therapy, opportunities to move, play and interact with others in a fun, supportive environment can help reinforce important skills.” She added that children can also benefit from increasing confidence and independence, and being part of a team.

The organization is also seeking community volunteers to assist with the events. To register a child or volunteer, contact Ozarks Healthcare Therapies at 417-257-5959.
