Alton L. Curtwright, 53, Caulfield, died Wednesday afternoon when he was thrown from his motorcycle, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Msgt. C.A. Hogue, with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs reported the accident happened at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday on west U.S. 160 in Ozark County, 2.5 miles west of Caulfield.
Curtwright was westbound on his 1996 Harley-Davidson when it ran off the right side of the road, struck a sign and hit a fence, causing him to be thrown from the motorcycle, Hogue reported, noting Curtwright was not wearing a helmet.
Ozark County Coroner Gene Britt pronounced Curtwright dead at 2:30 p.m. at the scene.
The death is the 19th traffic fatality for the year in the nine-county Troop G area, compared to 18 at this time in 2022.
Hogue was assisted at the crash scene by the Ozark County Sheriff's Department.
