People's Park improvements bring new amenities, pickleball courts

Improvements are underway near the West Plains Aquatic Center at People’s Park, beginning with the removal of pavement from a parking lot near the southern edge of the facility. Planned amenities include an outdoor fitness area, two additional pickleball courts and a covered picnic area with tables. “These improvements will create additional opportunities for recreation, fitness and community gathering while continuing to enhance one of the city’s most popular destinations,” West Plains Parks and Recreation Manager Mike Davis said. Aquatic Center operations will not be affected, and the project is expected to be completed this fall.
