Piney River Brewing to celebrate 13th anniversary March 23

Posted

Piney River Brewing Company is celebrating its 13 years of brewing craft beer in the Ozarks from noon to 7 p.m. March 23 at the brewery off Junction ZZ in Bucyrus.

The “13th Aleiversary” party will be held at the “BARn” brewery and taproom, and feature special beer releases, live music and food.

“After 13 years, Brian and I consider ourselves to be lucky to make award-winning beers that celebrate the Ozarks on our farm in Bucyrus,” said Joleen Senter Durham, who with her husband Brian is co-founder and co-owner of Piney River Brewing. “We are still amazed at the people that make the trip to our farm for a fresh beer”

The Durhams expect that the 13th Aleiversary will be a mix of old friends and new friends, and a reason to hold the “biggest party in Bucyrus.”

The 13th Aleiversary features music from two Springfield bands: Kicking Jacksie, and Casey Lynne and the Dealbreakers. Patrons can expect a mix of original tunes and covers from classic rock to folk and country.

Tinga Tacos of Springfield will be onsite providing food for the event. The taco trailer specializes in a variety of made-from-scratch, unique street tacos, nachos and sides prepared with fresh ingredients.

The BARn taproom at Piney River will feature an extensive list of year-round and some limited-release beers during the Aleiversary festivities, too. Andy’s Root Beer, a nonalcoholic root beer, is available for kids and designated drivers.

“The Aleiversary is always a great time to enjoy a variety of beers, some of which are not easy to find outside of Bucyrus,” said Brian Durham, head brewer. He and his team will debut a new small batch beer, Honeybee Helles, a hell’s lager made with local honey. Crankbait Cream Ale will be available, and the 2024 Raise a Ruckus Imperial Stout is still available on tap at the BARn. All of this is in addition to Piney River’s extensive lineup of year-round beers, the Durhams said.

“Joleen and I are excited to raise a pint with everyone that makes the trip to Bucyrus on March 23,” said Brian Durham. “It’s always a privilege to celebrate independent craft beer made right here in the Ozarks.”

The special-release beers will be available beginning on the Friday afternoon before the Aleiversary when the tap room opens that weekend.

“Saturday’s party will be a big event with lots of beer lovers, families and dogs,” Joleen Durham said. “If crowds aren’t your thing you are welcome to visit us on Friday evening or Sunday afternoon to enjoy a pint in the tap room or to purchase the limited release beers to take home.”

Weather permitting, most of Saturday’s activities will take place outside.

The Aleiversary is a free event and open to all ages. Leashed pets are also welcome.

Piney River Brewing is located on the Durhams’ 160-acre farm. The taproom and a part of brewing operations are located in a restored 75-year-old barn. The Durhams founded the brewery in 2010 with a small one-third barrel brewing system in today, they brew in a modern 12,000 square foot barn with a. 15-barrel brewhouse.

The brewery distributes its products throughout Missouri and Arkansas.
