Area residents interested in working as paraprofessionals or preservice teachers in area school districts are invited to attend the Professional Educator Recruitment Conference from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6 at Gohn Hall on the campus of Missouri State University-West Plains.
ReBena Atkinson, director of the Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) program at MSU-WP, said the event will connect potential paraprofessionals and preservice teachers with representatives from several school districts in seven area Missouri counties MSU-WP primarily serves. Administrators from these schools will conduct impromptu interviews to fill vacancies in their districts, she added.
“This event will provide an opportunity for our education students, or anyone who might be interested in working within the public school setting, a chance to meet with local school district administrators,” Atkinson explained. “Those who attend will have a great opportunity to network with multiple school districts at once.
“In addition, school administrators will be prepared to offer impromptu interviews to fill various positions within their schools for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years, so please come dressed for success with an updated resumé,” she added.
School administrators who would like to participate in the event are urged to call 417-255-7930 or email Atkinson at ReBenaAtkinson@MissouriState.edu to reserve a spot.
