Several area residents hurt in recent crashes

A West Plains woman was hurt in a crash at 1:35 a.m. Sunday on County Road 8230 at the intersection of County Road 8620 near Quail Run Subdivision in eastern West Plains, reported the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Msgt. T.W. Meyer, with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported Meghan R. Brandes, 21, was not wearing a seat belt when her southbound 1995 Chevrolet Silverado failed to stop at the intersection and ran off the road, striking an embankment.

Brandes was taken by South Howell County Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment of moderate injuries, the report shows.

A Mtn. Grove woman was unhurt after her pickup truck was involved in a crash that seriously hurt a pedestrian in icy conditions. At 5 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 60 in Fordland, Webster County.

Tpr. A.M. James, Troop D, Springfield, reported a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt compact car driven east by Ryan P. O’Bryan, 39, Chinquapin, N.C., lost control on the icy road, traveled off the left side of the highway where it struck a pedestrian in the median, then struck an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by Kinley B. Collins, 23, Mtn. Grove.

No injuries were reported for either driver, both of whom wore seat belts. The pedestrian, Kent W. Boydstun II, 38, was taken by ambulance to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.

Back in Troop G, the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck suffered minor injuries when his truck was rear-ended by a Ford truck at 6:54 a.m. Friday at the intersection of U.S. 60 and Highway 17 in Mtn. View.

Tpr. L.J. Combs reported James D. Gehlken, 61, Mtn. View, was attempting to turn right in his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado when his truck was rear-ended by an eastbound 2019 Ford F150 driven by Kyler J. Franco, 32, of Tunas in Dallas County.

Both men were wearing seat belts and Gehlken was taken by Mercy Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare. No injuries were reported for Franco.

Minor injuries were reported for a Birch Tree driver who was in a collision at 5:40 a.m. Thursday U.S. 60 in Shannon County, 2 miles east of Mtn. View.

Tpr. Combs reported Jordan L. Barrett, 33, Birch Tree, was the driver of a 2008 GMC Silverado 2500 that was headed north when it pulled into the path of an eastbound 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Michael K. Bell, 55, Mtn. View. The Tahoe subsequently struck the Silverado.

Both men reportedly wore seat belts. Barrett was taken by private vehicle to Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mtn. View; no injuries were reported for Bell.
