Summit Natural Gas opens applications for 2026 grants

Posted

ummit Natural Gas of Missouri invites local nonprofits to apply for funding through its 2026 Summit Cares Grant Program.

The annual charitable giving program provides funding to nonprofit organizations working to strengthen communities across the company's service territory, said officials. Beginning this year, the natural gas provider announced it is adapting the program by opening applications for single-year grants. Under its previous three-year giving plan, which concluded in 2025, the company awarded $60,000 to five nonprofits.

“Our employees live and work in the communities we serve, so supporting local nonprofits is personal for us,” said Kurt Adams, president and CEO of Summit Utilities. “Through Summit Cares, we’re proud to invest in organizations that are meeting real needs and helping our communities grow stronger.”

To qualify for funding, applicants must operate within Summit’s Missouri territory and provide documentation of their 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The grant program prioritizes organizations focusing on four key areas: basic human needs, such as food and housing; STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) education; community enrichment through cultural and recreational programs; and environmental stewardship.

The deadline to apply is May 15, and recipients will be announced in mid-June.
