The Chaos Closet has received a $12,500 grant to restock essential items for local children in foster care.

Executive Director DeeDee Button said the funding will be used to replenish stocks of clothing, car seats, hygiene items and other necessities. The funding source, which requested to remain anonymous, chose to highlight the ongoing need for foster care resources in the region.

According to the organization, there are currently 138 children in foster care within Missouri’s 37th Judicial Circuit. The Chaos Closet works to meet the immediate needs of these children as they enter or transition within the system.

“This generous donation will have a long-lasting, positive impact for children in foster care right here in our community,” Button said. “I’m so thankful for the continued support that helps keep The Chaos Closet running and helping kids in need in the local judicial circuit.”

Founded in 2018, The Chaos Closet is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in West Plains. It serves the 37th Judicial Circuit, which includes Howell, Shannon and Oregon counties. The resource provides foster families with access to diapers, infant formula, bedding and equipment for safe sleeping arrangements. The organization also maintains a boutique specifically for older youth and teens.

Located in downtown West Plains, the facility is available by appointment only. For more information on programs and services, visit www.thechaoscloset.com.
