Thomasville Christmas Bazaar expands to 2 weekends

Posted

Described by organizers as “bigger and better than ever,” the Thomasville Christmas Bazaar will expand this year to include two weekends: Nov. 10 and 11, and Nov. 17 and 18.

The 2023 bazaar will offer a variety of holiday décor, merchandise and food for purchase. Rather than goods from multiple vendors, organizers explain, the Thomasville Christmas Bazaar presents items that are generated in-house: “Blending new, and sometimes gently used materials, a multitude of Christmas wreaths, centerpieces and other hand-crafted items will be available.”

A unique feature of the bazaar is the gift-shop setting showcasing the merchandise and creating a distinctive shopping experience, they point out. Assorted Christmas trees will be available in all sizes, from 1 foot to 7 feet. Additionally, say organizers, some flea market finds and a selection of small furniture and will be available.

Community members have worked together to create a Christmas-themed, queen-size quilt to be given away at the conclusion of the event. Donation tickets will be on sale at the R & R Restaurant and Library in Thomasville, from bazaar committee members and at the event. The drawing will be held Nov. 18.

A T-shirt featuring a Christmas motif will be available for purchase during the event.

A dessert bar, baked foods, soup and chili will be offered in the kitchen of the Community Center, where shoppers can enjoy “some of the finest tastes of Thomasville,” said organizers. Photos of merchandise will be posted on an ongoing basis on the “Thomasville Eleven Point Valley Community Center” Facebook Page .

First held in 2017 as a fundraiser for repairs following that year’s disastrous spring flood, the bazaar has become a primary fundraiser to support ongoing maintenance and operational costs of the community center.

Hours for the bazaar both weekends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Fridays, and 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Thomasville is about 21 miles east of West Plains by taking U.S. 160 to Highway 99 north.

“Please join us for two opportunities for shopping, food and fellowship with neighbors and friends,” organizers invite.
