Posted

An Edgar Springs woman died after she was thrown from her vehicle during a rollover accident, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop G.

Tpr. J.L. Sentman with the troop based in Willow Springs reported Deeann M. Morris, 42, was southbound in a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta at 6 a.m. Sunday, traveling north on U.S. 63 when it ran off the right side of the road about 4 miles north of Licking in Texas County. The vehicle then hit a guardrail, then ran off the left side of the road where it hit another guardrail and began to roll, causing Morris to be thrown from it before the Volkswagen came to rest in a steep ravine, Sentman reported.

Texas County Coroner Marie Lasater pronounced Morris dead at 1:11 p.m. at the scene; she was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred, the report shows.

Morris’ death is the 32nd traffic fatality for the year in the nine-county Troop G area, compared to 28 in the same time frame in 2022.

Sentman was assisted at the scene by Cpls. S.J. Crewse and T.L. Brown.
