The Howell County Republican Central Committee will host a candidate debate and judicial forum Thursday to give voters a firsthand look at contested primary races before heading to the ballot box.
The public event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and take place at the Mtn. View Community Center, 125 E. First St.
The evening’s headlining event features a debate between the Republican candidates vying for Missouri’s 154th House District seat. Incumbent State Rep. Lisa Durnell and challenger Travis Smith will discuss district issues, outline their legislative priorities and answer questions regarding their qualifications and platform visions.
In addition to the legislative debate, the event will include a forum for area judicial candidates Heath Hardman, Marty Simpson, Larry Burton and Lyndell Beard. Each candidate will speak regarding their legal experience, educational background, community involvement and overall judicial philosophy.
“This event is an important opportunity for voters to become informed before casting their ballots,” said Howell County Republican Central Committee officials. “We encourage all residents to attend, learn more about the candidates and participate in the democratic process.”
The event is free and open to the public. For additional information, residents can visit the Howell County Republicans Facebook page.
