Brie Brooks, head softball coach at Missouri State University-West Plains, has announced two summer softball camp opportunities for area youth, the first of which will be held next week.
The Grizzly Softball Camps will provide instruction from the Grizzly coaching staff in a positive, competitive environment. The camps are open to all entrants regardless of skill level and are limited only by number, age, grade level and gender.
“We are excited to welcome young athletes and prospective student-athletes to campus this summer and provide them with an opportunity to gain experience, compete and grow their love for the game,” Brooks said. “Our goal is to create a camp experience that challenges players, builds confidence and gives them valuable instruction from coaches who have competed and coached at multiple levels of collegiate softball.”
The camps include an Overnight Prospect Camp and a High School Day Camp. Activities will be held at Jimmie Carroll Sports Complex, 540 E. Olden St.
Participants should bring all softball equipment needed for camp activities. Campers must wear molded cleats or turf shoes. Metal cleats are not permitted. Participants also should bring tennis shoes.
The Overnight Prospect Camp will be held Monday and Tuesday for high school students entering grades nine through 12. Campers will receive instruction in offensive and defensive skills, participate in game-like situations, tour campus, interact with current players and stay overnight in the residence halls.
Campers will check in at Grizzly Lofts, 665 Missouri Ave. The cost is $190 per camper.
The High School Day Camp will be held July 29 for students entering grades eight through 12. Participants will receive advanced instruction and take part in drills and game situations. The cost is $90 per camper.
Registration is open for both camps. For camp details and registration information, visit BrieBrooksSoftballCamps.com.
