In the heart of South Central Missouri, a remarkable initiative has emerged, transforming the lives of foster families and the children they welcome into their homes. The story of The Chaos Closet begins with DeeDee Button and her husband, Ed, two foster parents who encountered firsthand the challenges of quickly providing for the immediate needs of children placed in their care. Faced with the daunting task of securing essential items for these children, often with little to no notice, the Buttons envisioned a solution that would ease the burden not only for themselves but for all foster families in the region. This vision led to the birth of The Chaos Closet in 2019, a free resource offering clothing, diapers, infant formula, and other essentials to foster families within the 37th Judicial Circuit, encompassing Carter, Howell, Oregon, and Shannon counties.
