A 55-year-old West Plains mail carrier suffered minor injuries when her vehicle was struck by a pickup truck at 2 p.m. Tuesday on JJ Highway, 5 miles south of West Plains, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Tpr. A.K. Hughston, with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported a northbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by an 88-year-old man from Viola, Ark., rear-ended a stationary 2017 Jeep Cherokee driven by the mail carrier.
The woman was reportedly placing mail in a mailbox at the time of the crash. She was not wearing a seat belt and was taken by South Howell Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment, the report shows.
The driver of the pickup truck was wearing a seat belt, and no injuries were reported for him.
Ava woman injured in Wednesday crash
A 20-year-old Ava woman suffered moderate injuries in a crash at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 76 at U Highway, 5 miles northeast of Ava in Douglas County.
Msgt. C.A. Hogue reported a southbound 2013 Dodge Dart driven by the woman on U Highway failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. The vehicle reportedly then crossed the intersection onto Highway 76, ran off the left side of the road and struck an embankment.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was taken by Ava Ambulance to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield for treatment, the report shows.
Hogue was assisted at the scene by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Three injured in Wednesday crash near West Plains
Three people suffered injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 1820, 7 miles northeast of West Plains.
Tpr. D.B. Howell reported an eastbound 2005 Dodge Dakota driven by an 18-year-old Peace Valley man crossed the center of the road and struck an oncoming 2012 Dodge pickup driven by a 44-year-old West Plains man.
An 18-year-old Peace Valley man riding as an occupant in the Dakota suffered moderate injuries and was taken by South Howell Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment, the report shows; he reportedly was not wearing a seat belt.
Two passengers in the Dodge pickup, a 44-year-old woman and a 68-year-old woman, both of West Plains, reportedly suffered minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts. The younger woman was taken by private vehicle and the older woman was taken by South Howell Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment, according to the patrol.
No injuries were reported for either driver, who both reportedly wore seat belts.
