A 21-year-old West Plains man killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday evening has been identified as Logan Day-Tarlton.
While the Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer publicizes the names of crash victims, the Quill confirmed Day-Tarlton's identity through a GoFundMe fundraiser established by David Crosser to help the family with expenses, which included a link to the patrol's official incident report.
In August 2022, Logan and his twin sister, Kenzi, were featured in a Daily Quill photo captured the morning they were officially adopted by Tramond and Heather Day. The siblings had been in foster care with the couple for a little over three years up to that point. Surrounded by classmates, friends and family members on their adoption day, the twins later went on to graduate together from West Plains High School in 2023.
Msgt. S.L. Nelson with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported the fatal crash happened at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 8240, 2 miles east of West Plains, when an eastbound 2026 CF Moto motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the left side of the road and struck a stump.
The driver was pronounced dead shortly after the crash by Howell County Coroner Tim Cherry. Day-Tarlton's death marks the 13th traffic fatality in 2026 for the nine-county Troop G area, compared to 16 in the same time frame last year.
Nelson was assisted at the scene by Tpr. J.D. Healy and the Howell County Rural Fire Department.
Arrangements are under the direction of Yarber Mortuary in Mtn. View. As of Thursday morning, an obituary was not yet posted on the mortuary website, but services have been scheduled: Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Yarber Chapel, 621 E. Fifth St. in Mtn. View, immediately followed by a funeral service. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Birch Tree.
