Willow Springs Arts Council to hold art show for area schools Saturday

Posted

Along with all the other events being held Saturday for the Willow Springs Downtown Holli-Day, the Willow Springs Arts Council announces it is sponsoring an Invitational Art Show. This is the second year for the event and participating area schools include Thayer, Ava, Mtn. View, Willow Springs, Mtn. Grove, Cabool and West Plains.

The art show is open to the public and will be on display from noon until after the Christmas parade Saturday on the second floor of the Ferguson Building in downtown Willow Springs.

Area high school artists will compete in the categories of painting, pencil drawing/charcoal, colored pencil/oil pastel, sculpture, photography and mixed media. Ribbons will be awarded for each category and Best of Show, said organizers, noting there will be about 100 pieces in the show.

“Please stop by and see what these talented students have created and prepare to be impressed,” invite organizers. “While you are there, you can also enjoy the wreaths on display for the Wreath Decorating Contest and Auction. Vote for your favorite or place a bid to purchase one —or two!”

The Willow Springs Arts Council is a nonprofit volunteer organization focused on promoting arts in all forms in the area. For more information, visit www.willowspringsarts.org or on Facebook at "Willow Springs Arts Council."
