To the editor:
The Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the tremendous success of the 2026 Fourth of July celebration as the community came together to commemorate the 250th birthday of the U.S.
The chamber set a goal of reaching 250 parade entries in honor of America's 250th anniversary, and thanks to incredible support, that goal was surpassed with an impressive 266 parade entries. Thousands lined the streets to enjoy the largest parade in Willow Springs' recent history, featuring rows of classic cars, colorful floats, decorated vehicles, children on bicycles and community groups. The excitement and patriotic spirit were evident throughout the day.
The chamber extends its sincere appreciation to the Willow Springs Police Department for helping ensure a safe event for everyone. We also thank the many volunteers who worked behind the scenes managing parade lineup and check-in. Their dedication made the event run smoothly from start to finish. Special thanks go to Willow Springs Schools for providing the use of the school gymnasium, giving parade participants a place to cool off before the parade began. We also appreciate John Bailey, who once again did an outstanding job announcing the parade.
Following the parade, the Patriotic Program at the Star Theatre drew a standing-room-only crowd. Cornerstone Dance Studio presented an outstanding selection of patriotic performances, while Amelia DeLuna delivered a beautiful rendition of the national anthem. Sharry Lovan served as emcee, keeping the program engaging all afternoon. Ray Kelly of the American Legion led a moving tribute recognizing both active-duty military personnel and veterans representing each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Each was individually recognized and presented with a small token of appreciation for their service.
The celebration continued at Booster Field with the annual community picnic, where volunteers served 320 hot dogs along with chips, water, ice pops and watermelon. Stringed Union provided live music while children enjoyed the Water Wars hosted by the Eleven Point Fire Department.
The chamber thanks the Eleven Point Fire Department, G&W Foods, Willow Springs Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Willow Springs FFA Alumni, Willow Springs Outing Club, First Baptist Church, Mayor Adam Webb, the Howell County Sheriff's Office and the many volunteers whose generosity and hard work made the picnic such a success.
The chamber is grateful to all participants, volunteers, donors, sponsors and attendees of this year's celebration. Willow Springs truly celebrated 250 years of American freedom in a remarkable way, making July 4, 2026, a historic and memorable day for our community.
