The regular session of tonight’s Willow Springs City Council meeting will open with a public hearing regarding the rezoning of five properties to allow for higher-density residential structures.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be held in City Hall Council Chambers, 900 W. Main St. in Willow Springs.
The properties to be discussed during the public hearing are 103 W. Third St., from R-2 to R-3; 315 Clingan Ave. from R-1 to R-3; 307 E. Valley St., from R-2 to R-3; 201 Clingan Ave. from R-1 to R-3; and 102 W. 10th St., from R-1 to R-3.
According to City Clerk Heather Tooley, properties zoned for R-1 and and R-2 are designated for single-family homes. An R-1 property has a 15,000 square-foot lot size and setbacks, or yard sizes, of 40 feet in the front, 20 feet on the sides and 35 feet in the backyard. R-2 properties are smaller, with 6,000 square feet lot sizes and setbacks of 35 feet in the front, 7.5 feet on the sides and 20 feet in the back. Properties designated R-3 are meant for multifamily residences, such as apartments and duplexes.
Following the hearing, during the new business portion of the regular meeting, the city council will vote on five bills proposing to make the zoning changes.
Also under new business, the council will vote on a bill concerning the Missouri Public Utility Alliance Bond Compliance Policy and Procedure, and a six-month overview and financial report will be given.
Also on the agenda, city employee Rob Rackley will be recognized for his 40 years of service to Willow Springs, and citizen Bic Englehardt will address council members with concerns about drainage issues on North Ferguson Street.
Before adjourning, the council will move into closed session to discuss legal, real estate and personnel matters.
The Willow Springs City Council typically meets on the third Thursday of each month. The public is welcome.
