The West Plains Daily Quill is calling on local pet owners to submit their best lookalike photos for the Copy Cats, Doggy Doubles photo contest, presented by All Pet & Equine Supply of West Plains.

Whether it's matching curly hair, a shared piercing gaze or a similar personality, area residents can submit photos of themselves side-by-side with their pets for a chance to win a grand prize or runner-up package. Submissions and daily voting open Monday at westplainsdailyquill.net/contest.

The deadline to enter and vote is Sept. 28, and participants may cast one vote per day. Submitted photos will be featured in a special showcase in the Oct. 3 print edition of the Quill.

The grand prize People's Choice winner will receive four admission tickets to the 28th annual St. Louis Renaissance Festival, a gift certificate to All Pet & Equine Supply of West Plains, a three-month subscription to the Quill, and a premium pet toy gift set. The runner-up winner will receive four festival tickets, a one-month Quill subscription and a pet toy gift set.

Located at Rotary Park in Wentzville, the St. Louis Renaissance Festival opens today and runs through Oct. 25. The festival operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, rain or shine, plus a special bonus day on Oct. 12. Set in the fictional 16th-century village of Petite Lyon, the event features full-contact tournament jousting, live entertainment across 17 stages, costumed performers, games, handcrafted artisan goods and themed food and drink.

Weekend themes include Pirate High Seas Adventure (Sept. 12-13), Pups & Pints (Sept. 19-20), Kilts, Clovers & Chaos (Sept. 26-27), Oktoberfest (Oct. 3-4), Heroes vs. Villains (Oct. 10-11), Lords & Ladies Shopping Day (Oct. 12), Viking Invasion (Oct. 17-18), and Enchanted Halloween (Oct. 24-25).
