Smokey Bear is 80 years old next year, and the elementary students in grades one through 5 in Mtn. View View and Birch Tree participated in a poster contest for the U.S. Forest Service.
The Mountain View Garden Club and Smith Flooring sponsor the contest every year. The first place winners of each grade are sent on to the State Garden Club-sponsored contest, and then onto the regional contest. “We had many wonderful locally drawn posters from the students of both schools,” said Robi Tanner with the Mtn. View Garden Club.
