Officials with the Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce announce the upcoming Talk Derby to Me Kentucky Derby party, to be held at 4:30 p.m. May 4 in the upstairs meeting room in the Ferguson Building in downtown Willow Springs.
The event will include a livestream of the Kentucky Derby race as well as a catered dinner by Pizza Americana. The menu will include pulled pork or pulled chicken, or vegan alternative; mashed potatoes; corn and green beans; garden salad with dressing; rolls with butter; and assorted dessert pizzas.
A contest for the best dress and best Derby hat includes categories of best hat; cutest couple; Dapper Can, best-dressed man; and Southern Belle, best-dressed woman.
A 50/50 giveaway drawing will be held on the horse winner.
The evening will conclude with a silent auction and a live auction. Live auction items confirmed to date will include a luxury suite for 18 people at a Springfield Cardinals game, donated by Bailey Chevrolet; two nights at Granny B’s Cabin at River Resorts on the Eleven Point River, donated by River Resorts, Thomasville; and a year membership for two adults to Dogwood Canyon. More items will be announced as they’re known.
