Zizzer Swimming - Missouri Class 1 State Championship

The 2021 Missouri Boys Class 1 State Swimming & Diving Championships took place on Nov. 11-12 at the St. Peters Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo. The Zizzers qualified three relays and seven individual events for the meet.  

In Thursday’s preliminary events, the 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Avery Miller (backstroke, 27.35), senior Brock Larsen (breaststroke, 32.84), sophomore Dawson Fiorino (butterfly, 25.11), and junior Ethan Squires (freestyle, 24.82) finished in 30th place. The 200-yard freestyle team of sophomore Elias Curtis (23.61), Fiorino (23.37), junior Isaac Kammerer (23.93) and senior Jake Bramwell (22.27) finished in 14th place, dropping 2.13 seconds off their prior best time and setting a new school record. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Bramwell (51.27), Kammerer (51.78), Curtis (50.40), and Miller (50.54) finished in 12th place.

In individual preliminary events,  junior Isaac Kammerer placed 19th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.49) and 9th in the 500-yard freestyle (4:59.83); Miller placed 24th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.12) and 25th in the 100-yard backstroke (59.19); senior Jake Bramwell placed 28th in the 50-yard freestyle (23.10) and 31st in the 100-yard freestyle (51.35); Curtis placed 19th in the 100-yard butterfly (56.73) and 22nd in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.93).  

The top 16 places advanced to finals on Friday where Kammerer placed 9th overall in the 500-yard freestyle (4:59.08); the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Curtis (23.61), Fiorino (23.30), Kammerer (24.11), Bramwell (22.20) placed 16th (1:33.22); and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Bramwell (52.19), Kammerer (52.07), Curtis (51.14), and Miller (50.37) placed 14th (3:25.77).

In team points, West Plains finished 28th out of 41 Class 1 schools.
