Over the weekend, the West Plains High School Art Department participated in the Willow Springs Arts Council Invitational Art Show. West Plains R-7 School District officials offer congratulations to sophomore Trysta Johnson, who placed second with her Black & White Design; freshman Emily Ritter, who placed third with her Color Radial Design; and freshman Faith Robles, who placed third with her Black & White Design. The students competed against area schools including Ava, Willow Springs, Liberty, Thayer and Cabool. more

As healthcare workforce shortages continue to be an issue nationwide and locally, the Howell County Commission has announced its funding of a partnership between Ozarks Healthcare, the South Central Career Center (SCCC), and Missouri State University-West Plains to create a workforce development consortium intended to increase sustainability of healthcare careers and recruit more students to local healthcare professions.  more
