Ozarks Healthcare and the Greater West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce brought local business leaders and community members together the evening of Sept. 1 for a mixer showcasing the advanced robotic technology used in local patient care.

Held in the main lobby of the hospital's campus, the “Mix, Mingle & Meet the Robots” event allowed attendees to network while learning how the specialized technology is applied across multiple medical departments.

“These technologies represent a significant investment in the future of health care in our region,” said Terence Farrell, president and CEO of Ozarks Healthcare. “We want our patients to know that they don’t have to travel to a larger city to access advanced technology and highly specialized care. We are bringing these capabilities right her to the Ozarks, allowing our providers to deliver more precise, minimally invasive and personalized care close to home.”

Guests viewed four advanced robotic and technology systems during the event:

- da Vinci 5 Surgical System: Recently added to the hospital, this system allows specially trained surgeons to perform complex procedures through small incisions using enhanced visualization and control. The technology can offer patients smaller incisions, less blood loss, reduced pain and potentially shorter recovery times.

- Ion Robotic Bronchoscopy System: This platform assists physicians in navigating deep into the lungs to access small, hard-to-reach areas for biopsies. It provides enhanced stability to evaluate suspicious lung nodules and potentially identify lung cancer earlier.

- MAKO SmartRobotics: Used for joint replacement surgeries, including partial knee, total knee and total hip replacements. The system combines 3D imaging, personalized surgical planning and robotic assistance for high-precision orthopedic procedures.

- Stryker technology: This advanced navigation technology supports orthopedic and spine procedures by helping surgeons plan and execute surgeries with greater precision and real-time visual information.

“Each of these technologies serves a different purpose, but they all have something important in common: They are designed to help our providers deliver better, more precise care for our patients,” Farrell said. “It’s exciting to be able to show our community what is happening behind the scenes and how these technologies are changing what is possible for patients right here at Ozarks Healthcare.
