Baxter Health Fulton County Hospital recently donated IV pumps to the Arkansas State University-Mtn. Home nursing program and a local primary care clinic, paying forward an anonymous donation that allowed the hospital to upgrade its own equipment.

After receiving the new IV pumps for the Salem, Ark., facility, hospital leadership was contacted by the ASUMH nursing program director about acquiring older pumps for the university's training labs. Recognizing an opportunity to support the next generation of nurses, the hospital donated two pumps, valued at about $500 each, to enhance hands-on clinical learning for students.

Chief Nursing Officer Erika Sneed noted that by investing in nursing education, the hospital helps ensure new nurses entering the health care field are confident, well-trained and ready to serve patients in the region.

In addition to the university donation, the hospital provided IV pumps to a local primary care provider’s office to help broaden the treatments they can offer patients.

Hospital Administrator EZ Niles emphasized the importance of passing on kindness within the local health care system.

"We are all here to care for patients, and expanding the capabilities of local providers and nursing education programs directly benefits the community by increasing access to essential services close to home," Niles said. "We are so grateful to the donors who pour into our facility to increase our level of care, and we are happy to pass that kindness on to others."

Sneed added that the donations highlight the hospital’s dedication to strengthening health care across the region.

"We want to support both current providers and the future workforce that will care for our community in the years ahead," she said.
