The West Plains Police Department is asking for help in locating a suspect that allegedly stole a vehicle and was the subject of a pursuit that began at Snappy Mart 11, at the intersection of north U.S. 63 and Highway 14, the north West Plains city limits.

On Wednesday officers found a stolen vehicle parked at the convenience store, entered it, and located the suspect, identified as Adam Bartlett, age 32. Officers say he has a history of being a parole absconder and is known to be armed and dangerous.

When they attempted to take Bartlett into custody he reportedly resisted arrest and fled on foot, entering the stolen vehicle and ramming a patrol vehicle as he fled.

A vehicle pursuit ensued, going west on Highway 14 and was taken over by the Howell County Sheriff's Office as the suspect left city limits. Bartlett reportedly crashed the vehicle in Caulfield near Highway 101 and fled on foot and has not been located as of this morning, say police.

Charges will be forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for assault on a special victim, felony property damage and felony resisting arrest. He is described as a white male with with sandy blond hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a white under shirt, a ball cap and lighter colored pants. He is about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.

If anyone knows his whereabouts or sees Bartlett, they are asked to contact the West Plains Police Department by calling 417-256-2244, or call 911.
