Optimists distribute Christmas baskets to 10 families
The West Plains Optimist Club conducted its third annual Brent Easley Christmas Basket distribution on Dec. 18 at West Plains Fire Station No. 1 on Kissinger St. This year, said Optimists, the club provided baskets for 24 children and 10 families. Each Christmas basket contained Christmas trees, clothes, toys and food cards. “The support of local businesses and many individuals helps to give to these families,” said project Supervisor Shava Norsworthy. “The business that supports us is Hirsch this year. We have several individuals that we want to send a huge ‘thank you’ to, who gave us food cards, monetary [donations] and Christmas trees.” With some of the gifts are Optimist Club Treasurer Cheryl Finley, left, and Norsworthy.
