Ozarks Healthcare upgrades cardiac catheterization lab with new technology

Ozarks Healthcare has added a new Philips Azurion 7 cardiac catheterization lab to its West Plains hospital, enhancing the facility's ability to provide rapid interventions for patients experiencing cardiac emergencies.

The investment supports the health system’s recent designation as a Primary Heart Attack Center by The Joint Commission, a certification recognizing facilities capable of quickly diagnosing and treating heart attacks. Access to immediate, local treatment can significantly improve survival rates and reduce long-term heart damage.

The upgraded equipment expands the hospital's capacity to perform advanced procedures locally, reducing the need to transfer patients to larger metropolitan areas.

The Philips Azurion 7 system features advanced treatment and imaging capabilities, including StentBoost to improve visualization during stent placement, IntraSight 5 for real-time coronary physiology assessment,  FlexVision XL to optimize imaging during procedures and ClarityIQ to reduce radiation exposure while maintaining image quality.

In addition to advanced imaging, the catheterization lab is equipped to treat complex cardiac and vascular conditions using the Impella heart pump, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Shockwave intravascular lithotripsy, the Penumbra System for clot removal and orbital atherectomy for heavily calcified arteries.

“This investment reflects Ozarks Healthcare’s commitment to providing high-quality, advanced cardiac care close to home,” said Terence Farrell, Ozarks Healthcare president and CEO. “Patients in our community now have greater access to leading-edge treatments without needing to travel to larger metropolitan areas.”
