Winona, Ava residents hurt in crashes

Madelynne N. Prewett, 28, Winona, suffered moderate injuries in a crash at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 450, 2 miles west of Winona in Shannon County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

Cpl. M. Barron, with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported a westbound 2009 Nissan Altima driven by Billy J. Tarlton, 44, Winona, ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Prewett was not wearing a seat belt and was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, according to the report.

It was not known whether or not Tarlton was wearing a seat belt, and no injuries were reported for him.

Matthew W. Small, 26, Ava, suffered minor injuries in a crash at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday on D Highway, 4.5 miles east of Springfield in Greene County.

Tpr. J.D. Morrison, Troop D in Springfield, reported Small was driving a westbound 1991 Chevrolet S-10 when a passing vehicle ran it off the road and the pickup truck struck a fence and a tree.

Small was wearing a seat belt, and was taken to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield for treatment, according to the patrol.

The other vehicle that was involved was not identified, Morrison reported.
