WPRAS annual fundraiser auction raises $3K toward building completion

Posted

The Oct. 28 annual West Plains Regional Animal Shelter Volunteer and Friends Fall/Winder Dinner and Silent Auction raised about $3,000, including contributions from businesses donating money before the event to support the shelter’s efforts.

About 50 people attended the event, with this year’s proceeds going toward completing the interior of the new shelter building erected on the facility’s existing property, 1486 BB Highway on the north side of West Plains.

“We want to thank everyone who donated to the Auction and special thanks to The Pepsi Co. for providing the drinks for the dinner,” said Trish Hammen, speaking on behalf of the shelter. “Thank you to all of our volunteers who donated their time to make this happen and for volunteering at the shelter.”

With the cost of materials rising more than anticipated since the construction project began, the shelter continues to need financial support from the community to get the job done. The goal now is to raise $95,000 to finish the building’s interior.

Hammen said the shelter is also in need of donations of dry dog food.

To donate funds, send a check by mail to WPRAS 1486 State Route BB, West Plains, MO 65775, or call 417-256-8438 for more information. Dog food may be dropped at the shelter between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
