The Zizzer Pride Academy recently spent a morning with Crockett III and Tonya Oaks at the Lincoln School, which stood at one time as an educational facility for West Plains’ black youth prior to desegregation, thanks to the 1951 ruling made by the U.S. Supreme Court in Brown vs. the Board of Education. The Oakses shared the school's history with the ZPA students, who were accompanied by faculty and School Resource Officer Conner Burnes, and the school’s transformation into the Lincoln School Project. The project provides community enrichment and education programs in the historic school and educates through storytelling across several platforms. Learn more at lincolnschoolproject.com.
