Twin Oaks Repair, a mobile mechanic service, is now in business and with the Greater West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce, recently celebrated with a ribbon cutting cutting ceremony. Owner Adam Wichman has been a part-time professional mechanic for 14 years, starting out with light duty equipment. His focus is now on over-the-road equipment, diesel machinery and farm equipment, specializing in maintenance, repairs and service to extend the service of that equipment. For over eight years, Wichman has had a Class A commercial driver’s license and diverse trucking experience, and he says he understands what truckers and truck owners need to keep their rigs running. He is also a 23-plus-year U.S. Army Reserve veteran with two deployments overseas and is currently serving as an observer controller/trainer. Country Dream Kennels holds grand opening
Ozarks Summit Ministries is now open at 1671 Gibson Ave. in West Plains. The not-for-profit organization offers Christ-centered youth mentoring programs to children in fifth through eighth grades, accepted through a referral process. Ozarks Summit Ministries is also launching the AttaKid program, described as a Christ-centered mentoring program of the Ozarks with the mission of nurturing the whole child — body, mind and soul. Mandy's Hot Dogs is now a member of the Greater West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce, and recently celebrated with a ribbon-cutting at its new food truck. Menu offerings are regular and footlong Nathan's all-beef hot dogs, Johnsonville bratwursts and nachos. All main dish items may be finished off with a wide variety of traditional and out-of-the-ordinary toppings including pico de gallo, guacamole, pickled red onion, pickled cactus, sauerkraut, cheeses and chili. New twists on the all-American cuisine include the Tangy Mango Pico Dog with mango sauce, and the Pink Panther Dog, topped with chipotle mayo and pickled red onion. Ozarka College officials in Melbourne, Ark., announced Brioney Edwards of Melbourne, right, has been selected as Ozarka's Employee of the Quarter. Edwards is the lead faculty for the Culinary Arts Program.“We are extremely proud of the work Brioney is doing with our Culinary program,” said college President Dr. Dawe, left. “Since taking her lead role for the program, Brioney has had an exceptional year. Chef Brioney’s commitment to service and quality is apparent through the preparation of her students. Well-deserved recognition!” Edwards leads instruction for Ozarka College’s Culinary Arts program and her success is reflected in her students, said officials. Students in the program have gained experience showcasing their talents by catering events, obtained real-world practice in operating the Ozarka Culinary Café, and have been availed multiple internships and on-the-job training opportunities. Edwards began working at Ozarka in winter 2023 and holds an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts from Ozarka. She has earned the Employee of the Quarter recognition for the period of January through March 2024.
