The 1957 Chrysler Diablo is a name that evokes visions of American automotive ingenuity and the boundless optimism of the post-war era. This concept car, a collaborative brainchild of Chrysler and the legendary coachbuilder Ghia, remains a fascinating footnote in the annals of automotive design, a tantalizing glimpse of a future that never quite materialized on the highways of America. more

Today, I read a scientific article about our philosophy of "self" compared to various Eastern ideologies. Although largely unnoticed, modern Western Culture places a massive emphasis on "self" even in our churches to the detriment of God. Consequently, my attention turned to Scripture regarding the existence and identity of "self" and how the concept relates to the meaning/purpose of life as God ordained. more
In the New Testament, the Greek word for God’s love is agape’. In Romans 12:9, Paul says, “Let love be genuine.” Genuine means authentic, real, and sincere. Paul is saying let the love you have for others be the real thing, and I believe that in the words that follow, he is telling us how to express this genuine, authentic love in our lives. Verse 9 continues, “…hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good,” and it is strong language. Hate what is evil…hate what God calls evil…lying, greed, sin, selfishness, violence, sowing discord, wickedness. Cling to what is good, and verses 10-21 give us practical instruction. Verse 21 says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Persevere in prayer, live peaceably with others, do not return evil for evil, serve the Lord. One after another, these statements reveal God’s love in action, and that is the love we as Christians are to express in our lives. May God’s genuine and authentic love be present in our words and actions. God bless your week! Diane Cooke, Pastor, Presbyterian Churches, Willow Springs and Mtn. View. more

Carbohydrates, essential macronutrients alongside fats and proteins, play a vital role in providing energy to the body. They are categorized into simple and complex carbohydrates. Every January brings a week of sub-zero temperatures and the need to make some soup, and this last week was it. Nothing warms you quickly like a hot bowl of your favorite soup, ours is potato. I know we all have our best potato soup recipe on hand but I found us a new and easy one.  While most potato soups are creamy and thick, this gem has more broth and a bit of spice for heat, making it on the team chunky list. I prefer my potatoes mashed before making soup, it's more creamy this way but not recommended for this recipe. The best thing about soups in general, they allow you to add things to them like meats and vegetables without much fuss. We like our potato soup with diced ham or bacon, making it more of a meal, and this one is loaded with ground beef.  Like my Dad always said, "will be stick to your bones good". While we did survive this blast, winter isn't over yet so make sure you try this spicy potato soup, and feel free to share your add-ons. Soups on foodies!  more
