A Summersville semitruck driver who was involved in a fatal 2020 crash in West Plains has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of first-degree involuntary manslaughter. The crash had resulted in the death of a woman from Dora, Anna Hambelton.

An Ozark County man already facing eight felony charges from a July incident in which he allegedly shot at a man from a vehicle has been charged with six more felonies after allegedly shooting a rifle-caliber pistol as several people fled. One of those fleeing was struck in the head by a bullet and injured, law enforcement reported.

The Hootin an Hollarin Festival in Gainesville, one of the oldest of its kind in Missouri, begins each year on the third Thursday in September with a Queen Pageant at 7:30 p.m. Contestants, dressed in their best country dresses, delight the crowd with stories of how things used to be.
